A slower rhythm,
on island time.
Tucked quietly in Cowes, Verandah Retreat is a private holiday house made for unhurried stays. Salt air through open doors. Coffee on the verandah. Evenings that settle slowly around the fire. The beach is two minutes on foot — walk to the village, or don't. Either way, the day is yours.
The kitchen is designed to be used. The long table holds eight. Whether it is three generations under one roof, a girls' weekend that runs longer than planned, or two people who simply needed somewhere to exhale — the house holds it all without making it feel like an occasion.

"
I've stayed at a lot of beautiful places. Verandah is the one I think about differently. It's how it makes you feel from the moment you arrive.
"
We came for a girls weekend and stayed two nights longer than we planned. The house just makes you want to stay. The fire, the garden, we felt so at home here.
"
Three generations of us — my mum, me and my daughter. The long table fitted all of us perfectly. We're already planning to come back and bring more of us.

Your questions about
staying at Verandah.
Verandah sleeps 2–8 guests across four bedrooms — a ground floor master with ensuite and three bedrooms upstairs. It works equally well for a couple wanting space, and a full house of eight around the long table.
200 metres. Cowes Beach is a two-minute walk from the front door — close enough to hear the water on a still evening, far enough to feel settled and private. The foreshore is wide and unhurried, especially early morning.
It was designed for exactly that. The long table seats eight comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped for proper cooking — not just breakfast. The garden and verandah give everyone space to spread out. Whether it's a girls weekend, a hen's weekend, a multigenerational trip or something in between, the house holds it all without feeling crowded.
Yes — dogs are genuinely welcome, not just tolerated. The garden is fully enclosed and secure, the floors handle a morning at the beach without fuss, and there is somewhere to rinse paws when you come home from the coast. Full details on our pet-friendly accommodation page →
Two nights for most stays, three nights over peak periods and long weekends. Midweek bookings of three nights or more are where the house really comes into its own — the island is quieter, the pace is slower, and the rates reflect it.
The house is fully equipped — quality linen, layered wool blankets, a Nespresso machine and traditional coffee press, Mayde Tea selection, olive oil and pantry essentials, Ayurvedic bath and body care, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speaker, Weber gas barbecue, and a cast iron fireplace stocked with firewood. Everything you need to arrive and immediately feel at home.
About 15 minutes by car — close enough to make an easy evening of it, far enough that the house feels removed from the tourist activity. The parade runs nightly year-round; in winter the crowd is smaller and the experience is more intimate.
Yes — onsite parking is available at the property. No need to navigate Cowes parking or carry bags from the street.
